  10. I spend several nights trying to fix this problem myself
  11. but had no success. I think there is something wrong with
  12. my motherboard but I am unable to locate the error. Before
  13. I buy new chips and start to replace all ICs on the board
  14. I would like to ask for help in this news group.

  16. So here is my story:
  17. The first time I noticed this problem was when got my A2410
  18. Tiga board I want to use with NetBSD 1.1. The board came with
  19. no documentation but a floppy containing the a2410.device the
  20. EGS driver and the developer material with demo programs.
  21. Depending on the hardware configuration my A2000 works flawlessly,
  22. crashes after copying some megabytes from disk to disk, or does
  23. not boot at all:

  25. Config 1: A2630, A2091 slot 1 INT2, A2410 slot 2 INT6
  26. If I start LoadTiga everything is fine. I load the Lines demo
  27. (or anything else from the demo drawer) and the system hangs.
  28. INT6 remains low and the IPL lines on the processor show the
  29. right interrupt level 6. I remove the interrupt jumper on the
  30. A2410 INT6 goes up, system works again, Lines demo hangs.

  32. Config 2: A2630, A2091 slot 1 INT6
  33. System does not boot, INT6 is low.
  34.  
  35. Config 3: A2630, Masoboshi MC704 SCSI host adapter in slot 1,
  36.          A2410 slot 2 INT2, Multiface-Card III slot 3,
  37.          Picasso II slot 4
  38. System works like a charm: Lines demo runs on Picasso and
  39. A2410 while copying 60MB from one disk to another.

  41. Config 4: A2630, A2091 slot 1 INT2, MC704 memory expansion in
  42.          slot 2, MFC III slot 3
  43. System ok! NetBSD 1.1 compiled all three stages of gcc-2.7.2
  44. in about 30 hours.

  46. Config 5: Like Setup 4 but additional Picasso II board in slot 4
  47. System seems to work but crashes (dark power LED, dark gray screen,
  48. trapped in that state) after copying some MB of data from one disk
  49. to another.

  51. Any suggestions how the fix this error? Is the INT6 problem
  52. related to the problem I have with Setup 5?
